So, we have this file-sharing space we set up for the students to submit their written assignments. Pretty nifty when you think about it, but these guys insist on making it difficult.
Now, we don't ask that they print out their assignment. Imagine that. We save them the paper and the ink.
What we do ask is that they name their documents in such a way as to make it easy to download them and print them out in alphabetical order--namely, the document should be named (lastname)(exercisename).doc. So if your name is Joe Blow and the exercise was called Edgewood, your document name would be "BlowEdgewood.doc". Easy enough, right?
(What this does is this: when I download these into a folder on my computer I can then highlight all of the documents and right click on them and choose "print". They will then print out in alphabetical order--a good thing when there are > 170 papers to print out. This is especially handy considering that 25% of these documents will not have a name print out on them--that's right, these students do not know what their names are!)
Anyway, you guessed it. They can't do this. These are HARVARD MBAs and they can't do it. They are going to walk out of here making > $100K, and they can't follow instructions.
I am grossly underpaid. I can follow directions. Hell, when my son was 5 he knew how to put his name on his school work.
(/end rant)
