Hey, electro-gadget heads...

I'm using an old guitar wireless transmitter to send tunes to speakers in the kitchen, but the transmitter uses 9 volt batteries like they're going out of style.

I know there are adaptors out there, but has anyone ever seen one for a device that slides the battery down inside? I would need, basically, an adaptor that's fairly 9V-shaped, with the wires coming out of the bottom...?

1. Maybe This Will Work

Adapters sold in the electronics sections of most department stores (Yes, even the dreaded WalMart) have multiple adapter ends. Most of them have the battery cap from 9 volt devices attached, too!

You should be able to snap that into place and pull the wire through the battery cover. It might not fit perfectly, but it should work.

That way your battery eliminator will direct connect to the 9V terminals.

That's the best i can think of.

...The trouble is, the leads in the transmitter are flat, not the snappy kind... :shrug:

3. Take one 9V battery, ...

Take one 9V battery, hack it apart carefully, remove (or
at least disconnect) the six internal cells, solder on
some wires going to a 9V adapter, and re-assemble.

(If you removed the internal cells, you'll probably
need to make a small block of wood or plastic that
acts as an "prosthesis" to hold things where they
belong. Alternatively, epoxy glue would probably
do the trick.)

You might also try a 9V rechargeable (available at
Radio Shack), but they actually run at 7.2V so a lot
of things that really need 9V won't run very well on
rechargeables.

(I'm sufficiently obsessive-compulsive that I routinely
take apart 9V batteries to throw their steel "wrappers"
in the metal-recycling bin, only throwing their six-cell
contents in the trash.)

There's no need for a hacksaw. The battery case is simply
some sheet-steel with a roll-formed seam on one side of the
case. That roll-formed seam will readily "give", allowing
you to do the required surgery. Alternatively, you could
unbend the roll-formed top that holds the top snap-contact
plate in place.
