Why is it so hard to be a white middle class christian conservative?
Just wondering why they are always being persecuted. Must be tough to be these folks:

1. Those millions of lazy ethnic people on welfare are SUCH a burden...
Oh Rats! Maybe they'll have to cut down the number of martinis they guzzle for lunch. Maybe, if we don't cut social services from the federal budget, they might have to own 6 yachts instead of 10. Poor babies. Damn those unfair progressive tax codes!

3. The ones I know are very friendly people, and dress real nice

I've even been in their houses, so clean you can eat off the floor!

And boy, do they make some good potato salad, or what!

7. but the people who own yachts think they are middle class
And who are we to argue with them?

Like middle class tax cuts for those earning over $150,000/yr.

Or eliminating the "death tax" so estates more than $1million can be inherited tax free.

This is all about benefiting the middle class isn't it?

8. hey great post
i love the last picture in there, its a classic - straight to wallpaper.

here's why they feel persecuted, because they believe that what they have they have earned SOLELY by their own toil. They don't acknowledge that they are beneficiaries of a system which prefers them, and that historical inertia is on their side. They think that blacks should dust themselves off after centuries of slavery and Jim Crowe and get a job. Are they going to change their minds? If they do they will no longer be Republicans, because Republicans don't change their mind.

person....why are blacks more unemployed than whites??? Perhaps they still have a little too much 'dust'???

11. I didn't think that it was
I went to a church as a teen where the majority of the members fit that discription. They seemed to be happier, on average, than most other groups of people that I have encountered. If someone was having troubles, people prayed for them and the minister offered free counseling. Sermons regularly focused on relying on Jesus and knowing that all your sins are forgiven through Him. Life can be hard for anyone since many things are about a state of mind. These people had a good support system, which is true of many people who are heavily involved in a church of their choice that is consistent with their own values.

13. Gee, maybe having 80% of the wealth of the country adds to their
happiness????

In fact I was just wondering why churches care about how much money in taxes people pay? is the demand of the 10% tithe based on the gross or the net...I am sure MANY pay based on the net...and the higher the net the higher the 10% tithe???

14. Bastards pervert Christ's message
Read the Sermon on the Mount. Or, Luke. Christians? They pervert the message and dirty the name. And I despise them for it, for the message is sound, and thoughtful, and worth living by. It's not Falwell or Bush's message, though. They may claim to be Christians, but I don't see it.
