13. I saw FC on the night it won Best Picture...always one of my faves
Soundtrack by Don Ellis was a bonus - he was one of my favorite jazz trumpet players when I was in HS.

5. Will, would it taint the poll to ask you more about it?
I've never found Kurt Russell very entertaining, and the premise seemed doofy, but if you can offer some resaons on why its watchable I am always looking for a movie in the $1.50 rental section.

10. It's one of the dumbest movies of all time
and Russell is so over the top...but there's something about it. Unable to explain.

15. Intentionally funny?
Thanks, I'll give it a try, though the last time I liked Russell was when he was the Computer that wore tennis shoes and I wasn't old enough to know that movie sucked.

6. I'm not sure an intentionally corny movie is bad per se
unless it fails to be corny. What, is it W.D.Richter day in the Lounge today?

8. I voted 'best,' theough the underlying 'bad movie' assumption is flawed
:P

It's a true classic. In its internal self-parody it subtly lampoons the kind of bad movie that a person equipped with lesser intellect and with diminutive external genitalia might mistake as being an actual bad movie.

:D

P.S.: I didn't mean that about the external genitalia - I'm sure that yours, in particular, is absolutely massive and scares large Clydesdales. I was merely (almost) making a point about self-parody..or something...I think...it's all in the reflexes

14. One of John Carpenter's Masterpieces
It's zany, fun, and before Mortal Combat and all that rot came out, was an early glimpse of pseudo-Chinese mythological themes and characters.

And Kim Cattrall....reooow

16. Well,
if it's truly meant seriously, then yeah; there's so much ham in that movie that vegetarian's shouldn't be allowed to see it without signing a waiver.

But I always thought that 'over-the-top' camp was an intentional poke at the genre.

18. Feeling good, how about you?
I rate movies based on EV, or Entertainment Value, BTIC has excellent EV scores. Most reviews will talk about acting or set direction or special effects blah blah blah, but it doesn't matter a damn if it's not entertaining. Plus EV covers all genres, from romantic comedies to funny dramas!

Seriously though, here are some other flix with high EV ratings for comparison;

Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Army of Darkness
Lawn Dogs
All Elvis Movies
Bottle Rocket

and of course the recently released Bubba Ho-Tep!! <--- Do NOT miss this one.

20. Saw it actually when it was in the theaters...and I LIKED it!
Was I too young and my tastes hadn't evolved yet?

I can't remember a damn thing about it, though, other than remembering that I liked it.
