2. Yes, It's been a loooooongggg, drawn out struggle

on this particular issue, with several management changes, the suggestion of a scandal, and some irate people at the top of the corporate ladder.

Making the numbers work, - and not lying about them in the process, - turns out to be harder than a lot of people thought.

8. I spent an entire afternoon in the office recently

vowing I wouldn't go home until I knew why the departmental numbers were screwed. We should have been a tidy little profit-maker and instead we were in the shit-can 3 out of 4 weeks every month.

I'm no accountant, my degrees are in English Lit and Psychology. But, it's not rocket science and I left around 2 in the afternoon with a shortlist of issues and some suggestions on how we were going to deal with them. Then I got very proactive about dealing with those issues and formalising our new procedures.
