Who thinks the Beatles went downhill after 1970?
I mean really.

"Let it Be" and "Abbey Road" were cool, but what have they done for me lately?

1. The beatles broke up in 1970
Their final two albums weren't all that great. And "Come together" has to be the most disgusting song (pre-1990) I've ever heard.

4. Oh gosh, Abbey Road
sucked. All that over-production, and lyrics that meant nothing. Geez, it wasn't like people hadn't been doing that crap for years. It was just so derivative. Ho hum. And "Let it Be". Please. Jo-jo was a man who thought he had a boner, but he couldn't pass no gas...

11. Really? I think Abby Road was their best bar none, even over White
Here Comes the Sun
Something
Come Together

There was a lot of Harrisons influence on it. I think it flows together more that any of the other albums.

Just shows how subjective music is***

15. I'd like to be
under the sea
in an octopus' garden
in the shade

we'd sing and shout
and swim about
in our little
hide away
beneath the waves

No, I've been on a 48 hour smart-ass bender. Abbey Road, Layla and the Ninth Symphony (Beethoven you pagens) are my favorite pieces of music. Oh, and a really tasty Dark Star

Individually, I assume??
As single acts, the old magic was in tatters. It isn't surprising that they 'went down'. I will never forget my shock and horror, when they broke up. I *think* I have one or two McCartny LPs, but I never play them.

3. I never..............
really thought they reached a high enough plateau from which to begin a downhill trek.......they never did anything for me.

Though I must admit to liking Paul's post-Beatles Christmas song.

5. I agree
I mean, they haven't had any new material in how long?

In fact, their record company decided to re-release "Let It Be" - "As Nature Intended".

9. Definitely! After 'The Long and Winding Road,' the Beatles...

...never recorded anything else that I really liked.

The Beatles definitely should've broken up long about 1970, but no. They had to keep recording right into the '80s, with each album weaker than its predecessor.

If John hadn't been killed in 1980, who knows when (or even if) the once-Fab Four would finally have called it quits?

12. I was stoned from 68 to about 1980, I loved the Beatles
Tripped on them in fact. Led Zeppelin rocked. The Allman Brothers my favorite. Alice Cooper's Steven 11 minute version freaked me out though...

Alice Cooper - Steven
(written by: Alice Cooper)

Buy this album!
From the album "Welcome To My Nightmare"

I don't want to see you go,
I don't even want to be there.
I will cover up my eyes
And pray it goes away.
You've only lived a minute of your life
I must be dreaming,
Please stop screaming.
I don't like to hear you cry.
You just don't know
How deep that cuts me.
So I will cover up my eyes
And it will go away.
You've only lived a minute of your life
I must be dreaming,
Please stop screaming.
Steven
I hear my name. (Steven)
Is someone calling me ?
I hear my name. (Steven)
Here I go again
Up and down alone
All my friends went home
Years ago
All my toys are broken and
So am I inside mom
The carnival has closed
Years ago
I'm a little boy
No, I'm a great big man
No, let's be a little boy
For a little while longer
Maybe an hour?
No Steven
We have to go back now
Isn't that our mom calling?
MOTHER:
Steven?! Steven?! Steven, come home!
STEVEN:
Mother!
That icy breath,
It whispers screams of pain.
I don't want to feel you die,
But if that's the way
That God has planned you,
I'll put pennies on your eyes
And it will go away, see ?
You've only lived a minute of your life
I must be dreaming,
Please stop screaming.
(Steven) (Is someone calling me ? - No)
(Steven)
(I think I hear a voice,
It's outside the door.)
(Steven) I hear my name.
(Steven) (Is someone calling me ?
I hear my name.)
(Steven) (What do you want ?)
(Steven) (What do you want ?)
(What do you want ?) (Steven)
(I hear my name.)

13. I actually LOVE their new material!
I mean come on, have any of you heard their "1" album? It's far better than ANY of the crap they did in the sixties. ;)

14. The Beatles peaked with "Revolver"
Okay, okay... "Sgt. Pepper" is fantastic, but it doesn't deserve the adoring hype it so often garners.

"White Album" is good, but clearly shows a strained relationship on the rocks.

"Abbey Road" can be seen as John and Paul filing for a divorce as a musical team. It has it moments, but it was over and they knew it.

"Let It Be" would be more of a disaster than it already is, if it weren't for Billy Preston. A decent Blues album.
