Saw "The Italian Job" On The Plane Ride Home!
Boy, did it exceed my expectations! If you haven't seen it, it's a really wonderful caper film.

The performances are solid, the story is good. SOme nice little twists here and there and the action scenes are really exciting.

Ed Norton's antagonist is brilliant. He's a REALLY big jerk in this.

I really feel this is FAR better than the original.

A remake that was worth doing! Go figure!

2. Hey Professor
any semblance of it being a chick flick? My wife heard good stuff about it, was set to see it with me, then saw all the action stuff in an ad and now doesn't care to see it. Help?

4. Not A Chick Flick
It's a caper film. The woman lead in it is integral to the story. She's smart, capable, beautiful, and fully part of the plan. So, maybe that's why the "Chick Flick" tag got put on it. She's not window dressing. She's critical to the film.

If you like caper films, and your wife wants to see a strong woman role, i'd recommend it.

3. BLASPHEMY!
Kill the heretic!

It's not 'better' than the original, it's not even the same film. It should have been called something else.

I'll agree that it was a passable film of which I wasn't too offended, but to say it's 'FAR' better than the original is just so wrong on many different levels. :-P

5. Sorry. Opinions Vary
The main plotline is the same. The settings and motivations are different. That's why i think it's better. I thought the original was glaically paced, although well performed and a good script.

This one moves much faster. I'd say it was FAR beyond passable. But, like i said, opinions vary. That's what makes the movie biz, huh?

7. This is how it goes now.
Hollywood buys rights to much loved but unfamiliar to US Brit movie. They retain the title to try to get some of the original fans, but otherwise gut it,totally rewrite it and/or bastardise it.
i.e. - Bedazzled, Get Carter, The Avengers - the list just goes on.

8. Man, I watched that with my neighbors last week...
and it's fucking moronic (sorry) I was really high/impaired and it still seemed as if 10 year-olds had written and directed the thing. Should have used my wife's foolproof formula; if Donald Sutherland is in any movie made after 1975- IT WILL SUCK!
