i know there's a website "Bands Against Bush," but this is largely a group of smaller and local bands.
can you imagine a huge concert held at RFK in DC sometime in the next year before the election with the theme being the removal of the bushies and restoration of some sanity in our government? all the proceeds could somehow be funneled to a PAC or a candidate, and it could be like "live aid" where callers can call in with donations.
while there's still some mainstream backlash for overt political activism, several big name performers seem like they'd be perfect for this, most recently john mellencamp with his letter re: bush.
others that would be great to headline something like this: beastie boys coldplay system of a down bruce springsteen pearl jam public enemy and a rage against the machine reunion performing "the ghost of tom joad" with springsteen could be the finale.
RFK would be packed and it could energize the notoriously low voter-turnout crowd of under 25.
