Poll question: Ooo, Yeah! You Like That, Don't You? Who's Your Daddy?
Does verbal play like this enhance the experience, or detract from it?

It always makes me think that I'm a character in some ba-a-ad porn movie. Just try to stop me from laughing!

1. It can enhance...but it's a mood thing.
Sometimes it's good and sometimes it makes me laugh, too!

15. I can take it but I can't dish it out
I wonder if they are books that would help me. I just don't like to think that much when there are more interesting things I could be doing.

23. not to mention, "papi" sounds too much like "Poppy"
if parental imagery wasn't bad enough, adding Bush Sr into the mix would be contraception at its finest!

6. Personally I like to focus on giving and receiving sensation....
The Penthouse Forum dialogue I can do without...I always feel slightly absurd doing it. Maybe I'm weird, but I've always thought excess talk sort of ruins the experience, anyway.

12. Ooh yeah! is hardly in the same category as those others
and there's nothing more dispiriting than a grimly silent partner who is uncomfortable with vocal or verbal play. But one can be verbal without being trite, which your two examples are.

18. I agree that "Ooh Yeah" And Other Ways To Vocalize Pleasure...
... are MUCH MUCH MUCH preferred to someone who's a silent bump on a log. Moaning and groaning and grunting and sweating are good. (I wouldn't be a good romance writer, would I?)

16. I don't know, man, the whole concept of parental reference
creeps me out... I would think that anyone who wants to refer to me as Daddy has some issues I'm not qualified to address

I surely don't go calling my partner "Mom"!!!

22. Enhances if it's not that "daddy" thing
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 01:00 PM by populistmom
I really don't want to refer to my sexual partner as daddy. I love my dad, but it's not really a time I want to be thinking about him.
On the other hand, I'm extremely verbal and wish my partner was as well, but it's more of a natural thing for me. It's easier for me to let go. If you have to try to be verbal or it doesn't feel right for you, then don't do it. As long as you find a way to communicate what you like (or don't like) by other means.

29. I'm Reminded Of When "Phoebe Buffay" Was Teasing Ross With "Daddy" Talk...
... and later on, Ross was talking to his infant daughter saying something like: "Smile for daddy..." then he turns to Phoebe and tells her "YOU'VE RUINED THAT WORD FOR ME!"

25. I recently hooked up with a guy who's really into that
The first time he started saying things, I found it pretty funny but managed to hold any laughter inside. Then I got used to it, then got into it--it helps show enjoyment of particular actions and to learn each other's favorite things, and it can lead to talking about these things later and coming up with new ideas to try out.

But if he ever says "Who's your daddy?", I don't think I could take it.
