It is illegal to sell, but legal to buy and own (and imbibe).

Nectar of the gods, I tell you! Serve over ice, and suspend a sugar cube in an absynthe spoon with an ice cube over it. Let the ice water drip into the cube, till it dissolves. Then drink.

It was also mildly hallucinogenic, wasn't it?

I seem to remember reading that it can be legally sold now in the US if it's made with a different type of wormwood that is not toxic (or hallucinogenic).
