Look, people who suffer from addiction fall into three categories: Those who want to and get better, Those who want to and CAN'T get better, and those that should, but don't want to (or in Rushbo's case, practice what he preaches)

I think that Rush should be offered every chance towards rehabilitation: Addiction is a nasty disease. From my understanding, prisons offer many 12-step groups.

[The Backlash Cometh]

1. An interesting conflict for Republicans.

I've been reading the lengthy investigative reporting in the Orlando Sentinel these last few days, wondering what angle the Republicans were going to take. I didn't have to wait too long to find out. First of all, the newspaper is painting the drug as a dangerous drug that can cause fatalities even when taken at prescribed levels. So the users are described in very sympathetic tones.

However, the drug company is coming down hard, insisting that the people who die from the drug are abusing it; or that it's being prescribed improperly by doctors.

So, are Oxycontin patients drug abusers or hapless victims of a highly addictive drug? The articles don't really answer the question and I haven't quite decided, myself, but I was looking at the bigger picture: Will the Republicans side with the patients and condone tort remedies? Or will they side with the pharmeceuticals and blame the patients for their addiction?

It seem Jeb Bush has decided to back the pharmeceuticals. He promised to come down hard on drug abusers. Rush, prepare to meet thy Brutus.
