Jesus actor struck by lightning - twice
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3209223.stm

Actor Jim Caviezel has been struck by lightning while playing Jesus in Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion Of Christ.

The lightning bolt hit Caviezel and the film's assistant director Jan Michelini while they were filming in a remote location a few hours from Rome.

It was the second time Michelini had been hit by lightning during the shoot.

Maybe he should take the hint.

Glad he's okay. Remember folks, the man is an actor who took a job, nothing more.

4. Well, in all fairness-

If the location was anything like the one portrayed in the paintings of the crucifixion (on a hill, rainstorm), I'd expect that cross to be struck by lightning repeatedly. Especially if it were surrounded with filming equipment.

The article doesn't mention if it happened during the crucifixion scene, though- so maybe god's just getting annoyed by all the lame-ass bible thumping.

13. The odds are
one in 125,000 of being struck and injured by lightning. Being killed is 1 in 500k. Note that the 1 in 125k is only for being hit and injured ONCE! Anyone who paid attention in probability please compute the actual odds of this guy being struck twice for me!

15. This is off-topic, but...
Is that really a picture of the Japanese Parliament "debating" the Iraq war? I don't remember hearing about anything like that.

16. I don't think so

I've seen videos of brawls taking place in Taiwan's Parliment. I never heard of Japan's Parliment getting physical like that.

11. odd reality .... or fake publicity stunt?
The location would definately be one that would almost guarantee a lightning stike or two, particularly with film equipment in tow.

But there is another possibility...

Maybe it didn't happen and it's just another publicity stunt for the movie.

The lead actor was struck by lightning and had smoke coming out of his ears, but he's fine?

hmmm.
