World Series Gm. 5 Ratings Up 32 Percent; Beckett vs. Pettite in Game 6!
Edited on Sat Oct-25-03 08:25 AM by HuckleB
Looks like more and more people are noticing just how good this series has been, and they're tuning in. Tonight's game has all the earmarks of a true classic, with Beckett and Pettite on the mound. I can't wait!

Ratings continue to climb

1. Tonight should be fantastic
I'm a little worried about Beckett coming back on 3 days rest. He hasn't done it before, and in general it doesn't always work out well. I guess the Marlins didn't have many options. Mark Redman, Dontrelle Willis, and Rick Helling have been terribly inconsistent. I think McKeon doesn't want to allow a Game 7, although he's in decent shape if Pavano has to pitch.

Pettitte's always come up big in these types of games, so expect a low scoring affair tonight.

2. Yeah, I'm concerned about the short rest, too.
But Beckett's young and strong, and, heck, Pettite ran on three days rest last Sunday and almost pitched a shutout. I fully admit that I would have saved Beckett and Pavano for game seven, figuring that I could definitely get nine plus strong innings that way. But we'll see what happens.

4. Starting beckett is a mistake
(i hope). Game 6 of the WS is not the right time to try your pitcher on 3 days rest for the first time. But if the Yankees big sluggers (Giambi and Sorryano) keep up thier horrible production, then it wont make much difference.

5. You're absolutely right
You save your horses for Game 7 - who cares if they're dog-tired after game 7 of the WS? There's nothing else to play for for months!

McKeon should start Willis - save Pavano and Beckett for game 7. This is going to go badly for the Marlins.

7. The Marlins CAN afford to lose tonight..........

why not hold on to a fully rested Beckett for game 7, with EVERYTHING on the line.....on the surface that seems to be the logical move....if they lose tonight, Pavano will pitch game 7, on 3 days rest.......

LET'S GO YANKEES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. This From Faux?
They have an interest in keeping up the ratings for the advertising revenue and we all know how reliable Faux is for information.
