What We Did On Vacation...
Today we made our last vacation trip back to the Humane Society in Iron River Michigan. It was heartbreaking to say the least. If you want to see what we did on vacation check out the link. Please note that some of the pictures are kind of large so it might take a minute or two to open. (Also, please note that toward the bottom there is some not-so-nice stuff that might offend people.)

1. I think that this is
the best vacation I have ever heard of! Way too cool for you all to do this but I'm sure it feels SO good. I am proud to know you and be associated with anything that has people like you on it. Seriously. How many people would actually do this much? Rich people give lots of money and get lots of acclaim but that is the easy part. I can't stand to go into those places, I cry. I should be braver and volunteer. I just sit in the little room and let my hubby and kids bring me dogs to look at. You guys are the best. Really, I mean that.

2. We thank you!
This is probably the best and most rewarding vacation we've ever taken.

The lady I talked to asked why we didn't do this kind of stuff in Milwaukee. We told her that the Humane Society here just got a new building and that there are over 600,000 people in Milwaukee as opposed to a few thousand where they are.

The other day we saw a car that had a sticker on it that we are trying to take to heart:

If I can't do great things let me at least do small things in a great way.

3. It sounds like
you really did take that bumper sticker to heart. I like that one. I am just so impressed. We take in strays etc since being in the country we sure get a lot of them dropped off but nothing like this. It is so very sad. I wish I had the money to support a no kill place here but they need so much else that it would be difficult to even start that up. Again, I am so impressed. You should be sleeping easy and walking around with big smiles feeling really good.

6. Strays
When we were there the lady was telling us that many, including Foxy, were strays. I can't believe that anyone could just let these pretty babies go. The dogs were wonderful and the kittens way too friendly. It was all I could do to not take home the one they kept asking me to take. (Besides, I don't think Paul would have let me. 2 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit and 2 people in a 675 square foot house is a bit...familiar.)

5. Iron River...
It's near Iron Mountain MI. (See the Iron trend going on?) It's in the Upper Peninsula.
