How To Re-Build The Yankee Dynasty
Simple. Elect a Democrat as president. The Yankees have not won a World Series with a Republican in the White House since 1953.

So, I say, "Go Yankees!" "Go Democrats!"

1. that'll help out!
I understand that Giambi is goig to have a knee operation? Jete'r hurting all over, Bernie's hurting all over, they need a MAS unit for those 3 alone.
Other needs--get someone in right field who can hit and play out there for once. A good, younf 3rd basebaman (Lowell), trade Soriano for some young talent (he can't play the outfield), some real midle relief, not some guys off the street with candy arms like Weaver (who the hell made that deal?)

I'd say get some more starters, but who's otu there worth the trouble? The farm system has been gutted (thanks George!), so no young Yankees are ready. Most of the coaching staff is gone. I want to stay positive, but man, it's looking really difficult...

2. I'd Trade Nick Johnson, Jeff Weaver, and Soriano
all for young pitching talent. We have to re-build the rotation first. Then, worry about position players.

6. he was terrible!
Soriano was swinging at pitches not even close to the strike zzone. It was almost like he had forgotten all of his years of training and didn't know how to play anymore...

12. I wouldn't be so quick to ditch Soriano
He's still a young player with tremendous potential and hits a ton when he's on.

3. I say get rid of
Jeter, Giambi, Wells, Pettite, Rivera, Soriano, and Bernie Williams for a bunch of minor leagers, that is the way to go.

8. well Giambi's knee is messed up
he's going to have an operation on it; Jeter has problems in BOTH shoulders, one ofhis hands, other injuries I haven't kept up with. Wels is gone, especially after his comments and one inning fiasco. I think Petite is going to leave for Houston--he is from Texas, so that's a strong likelyhood. They mght as well trade Soriano and Williams--although Soriano has really regressed big time. Bernie's banged up too. Rivera can't pitch innnings, and I don't see too many people out there who ca fill out that rotation with Mussina and..and..Jeff Weaver?! :wow:

4. Money is no object
We can be sure of that. Money will not be a problem.

I think the "big payroll" syndrome is finally catching up the the Yankees. Other teams with huge payrolls have flopped spectacularly. The Yankees have been the one exception. I think they had an unusual group of players and exactly the right guy (Torre) leading them. This year you could see cracks in that delicate balance. Steinbrenner began to get more involved. They made too many moves to try to fix any perceived crack in the Yankee armor. I think the chemistry was not there like it had been with the previous teams. They would have lost to the Red Sox if anyone other than Grady Gump had been managing the Sox.

The Yankees will always contend but the 3 years in a row without clinching the deal will take away the invincibility this team once had. The Marlins were able to puncture the aura of Yankee Stadium also. The Yankees have had a huge edge there in every series because teams thought they could not win there. They expected bad things to happen in Ruth's house (ask the Diamondbacks). This is somewhat reminiscent of the back to back losses the Yankees had in 63-64. It took the Yankees 12 years to recover and rebuild.

Another bit of bad news for the Yankees is that they now have competition in their division. The Red Sox have a smart GM and a good young team that knows they can compete with the Yankees. This will be an interesting off season for both of those teams.

13. The Red Sox will be no competition
If you think the Red Sox have a lot of "good, young talent," you're not following them too closely. It's not as if they're getting long in the tooth, but they have several players that are getting up there. Many of their free agents are going to be going in the next two years, among them Pedro Martinez, who seems to constantly say he wants out of Boston.

14. Boston can't afford to keep big money talent like the Yankees can
after next year, the contracts of Derek Lowe, Tim Wakefield, Pedro and Nomar are up. That would be a no-brainer for the Yankees, who with all their money could easily renew all their contracts. The Red Sox will have to choose two to set free.

Todd Walker is up for grabs this year too. The Sox probably won't let Pedro go. Pedro likes Boston, but hates the sports writers.

20. Oh, come on!
The yanks have the most money, the yanks have the most money, it's unfair, it's unfair! Right. The Mets have a huge payroll and they suck. So do the Dodgers.

21. The point was, if the Yankees were in the same position, they could renew
ALL of their contracts. The Sox have to economize.

The Red Sox don't suck like the Dodgers and Mets, in case you didn't notice.

10. There have to be players available for him to buy
And right now, its not looking too good for shopping season. There's hardly anyone available to fill the spots the Yankees are likely to lose. In my opinion, the best they can hope for next season is being "just as good as this one". Which is not bad at all, but not what New York wants.

And I don't see too much likelyhood in being just as good as this season.

we kidded around "There's the former Yankee GM." I bet Steinbrenner cleans house, but Torre stays.

16. Your facts are a little wrong:
It's not since 1953. The yanks won in 1956, and 1958, too. This was still when Eisenhower was president, but 5 years later.
