Emergency Landing
So... my partner's original flight from Hawaii to LAX was canceled due to "mechanical problems". This is an annoyance, but still a GOOD THING. Better to know ahead of time, right?

The new flight lands in San Jose and my partner makes his connecting flight with no trouble. Unfortunately... THAT flight has to turn around and make an emergency landing because the cabin lost pressure. Fun, eh?

All these delays mean that his original coast-to-coast non-stop flight is awash. He'll have to switch planes again in St. Louis... that's assuming that this emergency landing delay doesn't drag on and cause him to miss the final flight home.

Air travel sucks. It may be safer... but it sucks.

1. Will the time change help or aggrivate his jet lag?
Just a though to cheer you up, sweetie....

At least he's on his way. It could be an adventure! You never know who'll he'll get to sit next to on all these different planes. Maybe he'll get lucky like Al Franken and get a surprise Bush crime family member as a seatmate.

2. How many times do you have to tell people?
Roll those windows up BEFORE takeoff!

3. It could be worse...
I've been in lots of airports, and St. Louis is one of the better ones to kill time in, if you have to kill time. He could be stuck in Ulan Bator, or some other Godforsaken place, ya know? :P

4. Yep... St. Louis ain't too bad. I've seen worse too. But...
... it's not quite the same as home.

And at least the Dulles Airport is the final destination. He does everything possible to avoid Washington National... which is closer to home... but the runways are short-short-short. Not much room for error when coming in for a landing or taking off. (Also, its pretty disgusting to see Reagan's name plastered all over the place. I refuse to call it "Reagan National"... it is and always will be "Washington National", or DCA.)
