I started a bad habit again and I need help
I am back on diet pills and I ordered them from the INTERNET because I can't get them from a Doctor.

I lost most of my weight and my Doctor will not give them to me.

The gastric bypass surgery messed my life of pretty bad. If I eat anything that a diabetic can't have I faint and I am not a diabetic.

I can't stay awake because I fall asleep after I eat about 6 ounces because I get tiered and It makes you fill like you have had Thanksgiving Dinner.

I would never want to be fat again but I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone.

I don't think that I will ever be able to have kids and that was what I wanted after I got my life together and little by little it has been coming together.

I owe thanks to DU because I have been helped by this website so much. Sometimes I haven't wanted to go on but I am not a suicidal type of person although I did want to die at one point in life.

I don't want to be hooked on Diet Pills again. I was hooked on them in my 20's and it wasn't a funny situation.

I would gain 20 pounds so that the Diet Doctor's would provide me with pills.

Now all you have to do is go to a website and lie about your weight and bingo the pills arrive at your door the next day.

Anyone know what will keep you awake that can replace a diet pill. I am drinking 10 to 12 cups of coffee per day to stay awake.

I don't have any medical problems or diseases. The sleepiness comes after you eat something.

The diet pills have changed my personality and have me thinking about being a Nun again. I haven't slept for more then 2 or 3 hours since Friday when I started taking them again.

6. I walk to College everyday.
My School is 8 to 10 blocks away from my house and If I take a bus I have to take two of them so I walk instead.

On the way I stop for Nan bread to eat in class so that I won't fall asleep while my teacher is talking or while I am cooking.

If I am chewing I stay awake also. I don't like what it has done to my personality.

They are starting make me feel depressed or It could be because I have a birthday in 3 weeks.

2. I hope you can get over it
For anyone else that wants to lose weight, I would reccomend looking into a gastric band instead of a gastric bypass surgery

5. Agreed
My aunt had the gastric band surgery and she seems to be doing alright. The weight loss is a little slower than she had hoped, but it is working I think.

4. vivarins or no-doz
If you must have caffeine, you do get the same crash effect like from drinking coffee. I have never had a cup of coffee in my life, but I used to be a speed freak many years ago, and it is hard to get away from it, just like any habit.

Best of luck to you, hunny!

7. It was a bad habit when I was 20
It took years to break it and my Doctor retired that use to give me my diet pills.

After he retired I gained up to 290 pounds from things that happened to me in life and from not taking the pills anymore.

I don't want to deal with trying to get off of diet pills again.

If I say I will only take them for a month I might not stop taking them but I don't know what to do.

They are not good for you and neither is coffee.

9. if you can put this much energy into this post
use some of it, to take your pills, get out of your chair, walk to the toilet, and flush them.

when you feel tired, talk a walk, you won't be able to fall asleep standing up.

11. There is a gym in my bldg.
Thanks I forgot about exercising.

It's been years since I have exercised and I forgot about the euphoria that you feel after you exercise.

18. there ya go, start slow
if you try too much in the beginning, you'll be more likely to quit. ignore how in shape the others around you might be, you're not there for their benefit.

10. My daughter had this surgery...
but she hasn't had any problems from it. She can't eat sugary things like she used to, but that is a plus.

You might want to try to stick to more protein when you eat instead of carbs. You will get more energy from that.

Good luck!

12. How long ago did your daughter have the surgery?
I can't eat anything with sugar in it but I have to taste my sweets in my Pastry Classes.

I get so sick from the sugar that each time I eat something with sugar in it I vow to not do it again but I do it again.

Does she get sick from milk or bread and anything with flour in it?

15. I would just be worried
that the complex compounds would be harder to break down for proteins than carbohydrates. That would require more gastric acids, and he may not have them.

I am not a doctor, but I did take a nutrition class.

13. You aren't alone...
The Washington Post ran a lengthy article about the devestation being caused by easy access to drugs through the Internet.

You say you don't have any medical problems. You're wrong! What you describe IS a medical problem. If you really want to kick this, if you really want to have kids in the future, go to your doctor ASAP and and tell him/her everything you told us. This is really important!! You won't be able to kick this yourself. It won't be easy, but you'll have all our support!

14. In a way, I have the same problem
That is, if I eat an ordinary-sized meal, I get oppressively sleepy.

Long ago, I figured out that I just can't eat as quickly as most people. If I get an hour for lunch, most of it will be spent eating. Eating at a v-e-r-y leisurely pace, fully chewing nibble-sized bites is what fixed my problem. I'll usually still be working on my appetizer salad when others have torn through most of their entrees. It annoys people if they're waiting for me, but it's what I've gotta do. Helps keep the weight off too, since it would take me another hour to overeat.

16. Cora, the crash from that shit
is way more exhausting and debilitating that any short term good they do you and you know it. Throw them away and you'll get your natural energy back in a few days once they're out of your system. That stuff is holding you back, not helping you. Now get rid of it.

17. A couple of things
My mother in law had this surgery and it took her about 5 years to get back to a healthy 350 pounds. I hope yours works better than hers did. Have you checked to see if you have a sleep/wake problem? I was hooked on coffee and vivarin until I was finally able to see a Doctor who knew about sleep disorders. Couple of tests found narcolepsy, medication and 20 years later I am still fine. I would suggest you see a sleep specialist or a neurologist just in case. This sounds too familiar.

20. Sorry to hear about your friend
I am going back to my group therapy this week. I didn't want to go because of that Republican Doctor who told everyone to vote for her brother.

It meets once a month on the last Wednesday of every month.

Thanks I need to go back.
