A bunch of Freepers decided to deride my decision and even make comments that were so hilariously off base ...well, read it and laugh..

1. That is so strange, I hate humor that misses the mark

as much as they did in their comments. Even their invective is tedious and silly.

I agree with one of them, "Let's bring on the revolution, I'm ready."

I was raised around guns in a family of hunters and was given my first rifle at 10, and have had lessons for using hand-guns. I am more then willing to use them if I were to be attacked by anyone physically.

The bit of truth in one comment was about Liberals being against guns until they perceive they need one themselves. I have had a number of friends who have crossed that divide.

It is strange that people who want all drugs legal want to outlaw guns, and that people who want guns with no restrictions are against citizens having the right to recreational chemistry. I guess that is part of my Leftist Libertarian streak.

I liked your original post and responded there too. Hope you are well. I personally get much joy out of being a "lunatic leftist." I even get called that here by our more "centrist" members. :)

2. Gun question
Ok, I read that link. Comment: what a bunch of whackjobs. Question: what's wrong with a 9mm gun?

3. 9mm only really effective close up and personal
BTW I am a liberal lefty and have done 2 tours of combat and I am sure I have fired a wider variety of guns and bigger too, biggest being 120mm, I am also a veggie

Am I too soft?

4. Too small a caliber.
If you want something for personal defense, get something like a S&W .357 and use Hydro-Shocks, or get a .12 ga. side-by-side and use #2 oe #1 buckshot. 9 mm's are just too small to have that 'knock down, stay down' force you need.

5. Hydroshock?
Sorry, I'm a gun ignoramus. What's a hydroshock? 9mm is 0.354" in diameter, is there that big a difference between that ammo and a 0.357 round? Is there online place I could go and read up on all this? Thanks!

7. Hydro Shocks
They're a 155-grain bullet, and a very nasty piece of work. They fragment and essentially 'slice and dice' what they do not destroy directly on impact: http://www.rbcd.net/gelatin%20photos.html (see illustrations in gelatin blocks).

The major difference between 9 mm. and .357 is weight and speed; as a rule, .357 ammunition is both heavier and faster and delivers more 'knock-down power' than do 9 mm. projectiles. :hi:

6. .357 is the same size as 9 mm
the difference is that a .357 Magnum is like a hot rod version, with a much more powerful bullet.
