I just have to say this...watching the Philadelphia/Jets game
The Eagles were playing at home. The loudest fan noise was the booing of Donavan McNabb...even though the Eagles won and Donavan made some key plays.

Folks, the dittoheads reign in this nation. It was almost as though the Philadelphia fans would have felt better had the Eagles lost. Racisim is alive and well.

Philadelphia doesn't deserve Donavan. I hope he leaves the team...it sure would be nice to have him DC.

1. The booing of McNabb was not racist
I'm a Philly sports fan, and Hall of Fame baseball player Mike Schmidt used to get booed. BTW, Donovan's not going anywhere. He's signed to a long-term contract. He played better this week, so I think he's on the way back.

2. Meet the Philly Boo-Birds
It's a native form of catharsis. They boo everything, often for no reason at all.

The Philly Boo Birds would've booed the Sermon on the Mount ... six hours after taking Communion from Faddah (that's "Faddah Archbishop") Rigali.

11. McNabb was booed when he was drafted
I think the fans wanted Ricky Williams but the Eagles chose McNabb and they booed him.

3. I watched the game
Two comments about the booing and his play:

1. His offensive line needs some serious motivation. Five sacks??
2. I doubt all of Philly are freeps. Evidently he has had a bad year so far, and as any real NFL Team fan knows, the fans will boo the shit out of someone who isn't performing well. None of this means McNabb sucks or is overrated, it just means it isn't a good year for him.

Watch the Chiefs go 8-0 in about a half hour :)

4. Oh Pleeeeeeease
Philly fans would boo their mother if she made a lousy play. It's something in the water over here that makes Philly fans a bit overzealous and less than charming at times. Try a Flyers hockey game if you're really feeling the need to watch humans debase themselves over a game.

5. Da Flyerz Hockey
Now you're talking debased!

Y'know SNL's Sully and Zazoo characters? (Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch as the trés declassé Boston kids.) Well, any self-disrespecting Flyers fan would spit their hoagies out at them for their high-class ways. Wicked Retahded, my ass!

Any city that needs to hire more cops to keep the fans from hurting the players is a city with a serious sports problem. And I'm not sure the FBI bugged the Mayor's office to gather evidence. No, I think they wanted some cheap laughs.

6. Nothing racist there
The Philly offense has sucked this season and McNabb being the QB will get the boo birds. No need to read anything further into it. Philly fans will boo anyone who isnt performing up to standards.

7. are you freaking ill???!!!!
I AM a Philadelphia Eagles fan and the booing of Donavan McNabb has NOTHING to do with racist and I'm HORRIBLY offended that you would actually equate Philly booing (which geez, our fans have booed freaking Santa Claus - I suppose that means we're all anti-Christmas) has nothing to do with racism.

I freaking HATE this kind of insinuation from this type of post. You probably have never been to a single game in Philadelphia which is why you would make probably one of the STUPIDEST post I've read since I've joined DU back in May of 2001. I think you owe me and the fans of Philadelphia a major apology. We are Philly fans and we Boo. We do it for everyone when we're upset and we do it to Donavan McNabb and we did it to Randall Cunningham.

So just get off your freaking high horse on that comment.

Philadelphia Eagle fan and proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I'm not real thrilled with the other posters' bashing of Philly fans. What's so bad about Flyers fans????

17. anytime
I find it ironic that the flyers were brought up. WE boo the hell out of them too when they suck. Eric Lindros got it bad in his last year in Philly - I suppose that means we're anti-Canadian.

13. damn skippy! i was there in '65 when we booed santa, & he looked white
philly is a blue collar town with fans who plunk down their hard earned money and will root for anyone who shows hustle.

god help even the best star in that town who dogs it.

the only one i ever heard of not booed in that town was Dr. J, and i named one of my dogs after the "Doc."

BTW: its the "Iggles."

10. They're not being dittoheads. They're being Philadelphians.
Vikings fans would NEVER do anything like that to Daunte. Sure, he didn't play real good today, but we're not going to boo and curse him. We still support our players 100 percent.

unpardonable sin.

14. I'm not saying that booing your own guy is wrong...
...if he does something incredibly stupid, or keeps doing things like that. But you gotta admit that Philly sports fans are not quite like other sports fans in the country. There's no level of patience among Philly fans.

15. I don't always agree with who and when they boo
but Philly fans are as passionate as they come. And that's a good thing.

16. philly fans have no patience. i saw a priest booed for dropping the wafer
and it was us altar boys who booed him.

of course, this was before vatican II and it since has become only a venial sin, but the word got out, you better have good hands to be a priest in philly. those priests who cant make it in a local parish in manayunck get shipped off to boston where they molest little boys.

18. Ok, OK...I've taken my lumps for my opinion...
all I have to say is booing is one hell of a way to inspire your team when they may need a boost. Donavan must feel it...he said he believed that many people felt the way Rush did. I think he was right.

One observation is still very telling. At the end of the game their was hardly any cheering...I thought the game was being played in NY.

What a way to support a team!
BTW I was born and raised in Philadelphia so I know it pretty well. My family still lives there.

19. It's one thing to criticize the booing.....
but you took it to a new level when you made it seem like it was racist, which it isn't. Had you just commented on the booing I would not have been offended, but you were dead wrong to make it out to be racism

In Philadelphia we are equal opportunity booers, race has never ever had anything to do with it when it comes to Philly fans and their sports.

20. Phil Simms had a comment about the booing
He said, why would you want to come out to a game and then express such negavity, as opposed to getting behind and supporting your team.

He also said they hate him in Philly, which he takes as a compliment. So do I. I looooove Phil Simms.

21. why? you just spent $100-150 for the game and expect your money's worth
if a highly paid professional athlete, making much more for that single game than most fans make in a year dogs it, what the hell would you do? clap?

these guys are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars NOT to make mistakes; anyone can drop a ball, miss a tackle, shank a kick and do it a lot cheaper than an NFL player.

its like paying for bruce springsteen tickets and finding out rick springfield is giving the concert.

if i go to the opera and the tenor's voice cracks all thru the first act and the scenery starts to peel back from the walls, i expect to be able to express my opinion that i got riped off.

sports is a business, its customers pay cash on the barrel head to see a live game and expect their money's worth.

its why i dont go to nfl games, but i gladly pluck down a few bucks to watch high school kids play, they do it for love, not money.
