Big decisions await Marlins
There was talk about Sosa going to the Yankees before the Cubs made the playoffs, so this sort of article is what one can expect at the end of the baseball season.

BTW, I am a Yankees fan and I already read some stories about the big shake up coming.

Big decisions await Marlins

Series champs must juggle roster demands, finances

MIAMI, Oct. 26 — What now? What’s Plan A for the Marlins? They had the season of their October dreams. With these talented kids, with these great pitching arms, the easy thing to say is they’re another World Series in the making, a dynasty incubating.

BUT THAT MISSES the bigger point and most honest call about this franchise. Which is, they’ve got a roster of tough decisions to make. Only Juan Pierre and Jeff Conine are signed for next season. Fifteen players are arbitration eligible. October heroes like Pudge Rodriguez and Ugueth Urbina are free agents.

And compounding it all is finances. Marlin front-office types are quick to point out that previous champs like Anaheim and Arizona stood pat after winning and never caught lightning with that same lineup again. Easy for them to say. Bringing back this same Marlins team would cost a projected $90 million, which isn’t an option.

2. Loria is capable of anything...
...sleazy, low, and mendacious.

Whatever you're thinking, he's planning worse.

Make Huizinga look like St. Francis of Assisi.

3. easy solution for the Yankees here . . .
just buy up all the Marlin players and pay them more than they're making now but much less that their "stars" are making . . . then start dumping . . . Giambi, Soriano, Boone, Weaver, and a bunch of others could go . . . result: better team, younger team, smaller payroll . . . works for me . . .

4. I don't predict a complete firesale like 1997
But it looks like some tough decisions await. Florida, like most teams, don't have a limitless amount of cash to spend.
