And removed all "questionable" mp3s.

After last night, I came to a realization of how serious RIAA is about this situation. Apparently the RIAA or some record companies have set up 'spoof' servers to distribute corrupt files. As you know, you download files on Kazaa from several different sources, so when I downloaded some music last night, it would have sections that were corrupt and make a horrible noise in my mp3 player.
Most of the corrupted music affected by this is new music (last 2 years or so) and is pretty much limited to hiphop or rap.
After some research, I found that I am not hallucinating, and other people are having this problem.

http://www.petitiononline.com/riaawar/petition.htmlabout 2/3 of the way down on the page, I found this little tidbit that kinda put it into perspective.
"This bill would also give them the right to sabotage the file sharing services themselves so that we download corrupt files. This would allow them to commit legal cyber security crimes.
Imagine this: Your about to go on a trip and you want to take some of your favorite music along with you on a mixed cd, you logon to your favorite file sharing program and download that one song you can’t get out of your head. You go to play it only to find out that it doesn’t work!! You try to download it again and again, only to get the same results. Then you realize why it doesn’t work, it along with countless other files have been purposely corrupted by the RIAA and the record companies. Maybe you’ll have a worst experience than this. Maybe you try to play this file, only to find out that it released a virus into your pc that not only deletes your mp3’s but also although mistakenly, deletes your other personal files or disables your ISP that you paid for!!!"
So in a word, be CAREFUL. They're filing more lawsuits every day. So I decided to get out before they filed one against me. I don't need a 'copyright infringement' conviction keeping me from getting my teaching license.
RIAA's Hit List:
http://www.techtv.com/news/culture/story/0,24195,3484600,00.htmlUnderstand that I am not just a paraniod freak that is clueless about computers and networks. I have a network engineering degree, and I understand what the RIAA could be capable of, given free reign to stop file sharing in any way possible.
