Dykes to Watch Out For
For those of you who know what I'm talking about (Alison Bechdel's comic strip): Do you like reading it? What are your favorite characters/books in the series?

Personally, I think it's been steadily going downhill in the last few books. Mo's girlfriend Sydney just plain annoys me. And I miss Madwimmin Books!!

1. The Dykes...
I used to read it in a local paper here. However I, too, thought it went downhill so I stopped reading it.

2. And that kid Raffi is just a caricature
I feel like Ms. Bechdel could have developed his character more, instead of just making him a total receptacle for pop culture.

Are you the only one who knows about this strip?

3. Strip used to be (still is???) in our local Fag Rag
but haven't been "downtown" in well over a year- no idea what's going on in the storyline now.
Agreed that it used to be a great strip.

4. I read it religiously
in the Funny Times, and have the big book of collected strips. Alison Bechdel, like the rest of us, is sometimes feeling helpless and despairing at what's happening to our country. I do think she's falling into a few too many stereotypes lately, and I agree, Sydney's an irritating character. I wish they hadn't closed the bookstore, either, it was a good setting for some of the strips.

It's still one of the better strips out there.
