Did it make you feel sick? I'm going to have to schedual an appointment w/my doc because I quit taking the stuff about a week ago. The side effects were nasty.

1. I Take It Now
I take 40 mg every night before bed - no problems. I used to take Niaspan, but it made be itch all over.

2. Ask him about Pravachol
my doctor says it's is the safest on the market. It works well for me and (been using for 1 year) there are no side effects.

5. Very Effective - but I'd suggest a 5 day a week pattern
Skip Fridays and Mondays

A bit safer on the sides - and just as effective.

Of course the fact that no connection between high cholesterol and any disease outcome or prevalence has been mathematically established may mean all of us taking cholesterol drugs have been conned - but who really knows!

:-)

6. My one side effect - Awesome dreams!
As soon as I started Lipitor, I started having this amazing dreams at night. (On the downside, apparently some people get equally awesome nightmares). My doctor hadn't heard of it, but I've heard other people who say as soon as they started Lipitor they started dreaming more.

9. Very interesting.
I'm not faithful about taking my Lipitor, but some nights I definetly dream more vividly than others. Maybe the dream nights are directly related to the nights I remember to take my medication. Cool observation.

7. It's the only cholesterol-lowering drug that helps me
It cut my cholesterol by more than 100 points, but I have to take a high dose every day (80 mg.).

8. yes I do
no real problems other than an increase in gas and it takes longer to stop the bleeding from a cut. It does the trick though what size dose are you taking?

12. I don't use Lipitor so I can't speak for the side effects
However, I have been able to improve all my cholesterol reading through minor changes in diet and excercise(10-15% improvements in all areas). I would imagine you have tried changes in your diet, but if not, I certainly would give it some serious consideration. There are numerous web sites(Dr. Weil is one that comes to mind) that deal with diet and other natural ways to lower cholesterol.

Most people I know that use Lipitor and other cholesterol lowering drugs, haven't had any major side effects, however, those that did were able to switch drugs and eliminate most of the bad effects.

13. My boyfriend's dad used it...
but it bothered his liver...Hey, did the doctor tell you that if you eat deer meat that will cut your cholesterol DRAMATICALLY? A supervisor from work's husband's good and bad cholesterol rarely add up to 100.

Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 11:17 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
that there are a lot of reports of nasty side effects with Lipitor, and that there are other, less irritating drugs available, although I don't remember the details.

15. I took it briefly
it clogged me up for a week and made me suicidal. While I was trying to sort out why I felt so shitty I learned that I hit all the nasty side effects of that crap. Constipation, depression, couldn't sleep, tired all the time, upset stomach...

garbage.

decided to exercises much more vigorously instead.

16. I'd been on it for 5 years and developed liver damage!
They blamed it on drinking but that's unproven too!
