The most DISTURBING religious sign I've seen at a protest

It's the one of the left, which absolutely floored me when I saw it. It tells us to trust in Jesus and it shows pictures of weapons: tanks, missiles, automatic rifles, etc. Is this what Jesus would be doing if he were here in earth?

I found the picture of it and I wanted to share it with the rest of the gang.

Heck, if their god is all powerful, why does he need the weapons at all?

I'm sure it freaked them out. I so wanted to get into their faces but they had 2 rows of police protecting them.

Even the police were rolling their eyes at the idiots they were assigned to protect. And btw, both signs were very offensive. I find it amusing the sign on the right didn't include drug addicts. But I guess they didn't want to include Rush Limbaugh in the list of who God hates

As far as I can figure out, they do not truly believe in Jesus as God, but rather the war-like Jehovah of the Old Testament. I don't think they are very clear or logical thinkers, so the two get pretty much mashed together into a pretty horrid demonic deity (in my view).

Most of these wackos spend their time in worship going over the passages about smiting enemies, watching one's enemies get covered with boils and being eaten by dogs and pigs -- rather than having their hearts touched by the Wisdom of gentle Jesus.

I know a lot of wonderful, beautiful Christians, and many of them live their lives, truly, walking in His footsteps. They sure as heck make the world a better place! Following the teaching of Jesus, and emulating his behavior is, to me, being a Christian. I don't see the wackos -- such as the one who carried this disturbing sign, or who are full of anger at their fellow beings and who seem to hate the earth -- as "Christians". I think they're more like some barbaric cult, who claim to derive their beliefs from the darkest recesses of the OT....

there was a fundy guy screaming about how the wrath of God was going to zap us for not loving God's servant George W. Bush.

A group of us liberal religious types formed a circle around him and started praying aloud that God would remove the demon of hatred from his heart.

Even though it was a large circle and we were each at least five feet away from him, he started screaming "Don't touch me! Don't touch me!" in absolute terror.

I don't believe in demon possession, but that guy sure acted like one who was demon possessed.

Anyway, if you're with a bunch of like-minded people, that tactic is a good one to try on fundie ranters and ravers.

Also....the only true emotions are love and fear. Fear is manifested by ourselves, so the only "real" emotion is love. When we were born, love is the only emotion we knew.
