So what party does the president belong to in 24?
See him prepping for the debate - who is running against him, a Republican or a Democrat? Does it state what party he's from?

2. I think he's a Dem
FOX has never made a big deal about it. I'll have to go through my Season 1 DVD, but I've heard that they discussed him being the Democratic nominee for President.

...Palmer discusses with his wife the impact of events on the Democratic party, and how badly his sons actions would reflect on his being the first serious african-american nominee.
