Rehearsal went really well, once me and the security guard got the lighting sorted out.
Here's the problem.
I'm playing with a band twice the size of the orchestra shown, so there's no room onstage for the console. I'm using the upstairs console shown in the lower picture. As you can see from the upper picture, there's limited line of sight from the console to where the conductor will be standing. My back is to the conductor so I need to use a little mirror to see him. I had to check to make sure the overlight lighting wasn't going to get in my eyes or bounce off the mirror.
Neither one of us knew the lighting console very well, so it took some experimenting to get the lighting how it will be for the performance.
I ended up having to duct tape the mirror to the console because the vibrations from the big 32 foot pipes kept rattling it out of position.
