How fast do you drive to work?
Or better put, what is your top speed on your vehicle of choice?

I was speedin' along about 5AM this morning and was inspired to ask.

me? what the traffic will bear, call it a fat 80, or a cruising 75.

I wondered if I had a death wish.

1. If I have a chance to go over 30, it's rare
I only live a few blocks from work, with a few turns, two stop signs, and one traffic light. I never go more than one block without having to stop, or slow down to turn.

:-)

3. I used to have a 3 mile commute, but that changed.
I wondered if speed was just a function of where I lived and the hiway I traveled - I go faster and faster.

7. I always drive at least 5 miles over the speed limit
sometimes even ten. Why? Because I fully believe that the people who came up with speed limits decided on a safe speed limit, then dropped it by 10 mph. I have had exactly one speeding ticket in my life, and that was because, well, let's just say I was paying more attention to what my husband was doing (ahem) than to what was going on around me (yes, it was very open road). He paid my ticket for me because he caused it!

9. bingo - I agree about the speed limits.
sometimes I think they copped out and used a chicken shit number, for liability purposes - but there's hardly a cop around when people do 70 in a 45 (daily) on a local road currently being improved.

but i didn't want to make this a ticket issue - I just wondered if I went as fast or faster than most.

8. You Have to Have a Death Wish To Drive Under 80 On Parts of I-280
I am generally a law-abiding driver, but if everybody's speeding,
I will keep up. That is generally safer, and even the CHP usually
recognizes that.

10. It's the same on I-94 in MI.
Trucks are limited to 55mph which is utterly ridiculous! Jackson County is a county a trucker doesn't want to get caught doing ANYTHING over the posted truck maximum.
