I'm hooked on Love's "Forever Changes".
Anyone ever give this a listen?
It's nice to hear the original version of "Alone Again Or" which is one of my favorite songs.

2. I've listened to nothing but this for a week now.
I would say I'm obsessed!
Besides "Alone Again Or", I really like "The Daily Planet" (first song I ever heard with 2 bridges!), "A House Is Not a Motel" and "The Red Telephone".
Alot of these songs remind me of very early Pink Floyd(with Syd).
Arthur Lee had a gorgeous voice.

5. No. Although I am now a fan of his.
Wow, he was incredible--what a VOICE. I'm just going to have to get Loves other CD's.

4. It's easy to get hooked on that one.
"You Set the Scene" is one of my 20-30 or so favorite songs. It's Sgt. Pepper meets The Doors, in more ways than one. It's a pity Arthur Lee burned out so quickly.

In case you didn't know, Arthur Lee has a backup band (not the original Love, but called Love anyway), and he's been doing a "Forever Changes Tour". He's still got a decent voice after almost 40 years, surprisingly enough. No longer exceptionally clear, but still has no problem singing his original tenor range.

6. I saw online that he was in jail for over 2 years.
And he tours as Love. I'd love to see that concert. There may be a DVD out. I wonder if it's worth the price.

13. his burnout was long before his time in jail.
The problem with Lee, and thus the problem with Love, is that Lee fully expected to die the year he made Forever Changes. Not from any specific thing; he just thought he was in the final months of his life. Forever Changes was to be his swan song.

With that attitude, Love just wasn't able to put in the travel and the groundwork to turn into mainstream superstars. That would go to the fellow LA band that Arthur Lee made his Elektra record label rep sit around for after playing at The Whiskey. That band was The Doors.

7. Great album....
...a little bit of trivia for you:

March 1965
Jimi Hendrix and future Love vocalist Arthur Lee collaborated on a single by Rose Lee Brooks.

8. "Da Capo" is a classic, too...
It really gets overlooked, but it's probably my favorite record of theirs...

I always thought The Damned wrote "Alone Again Or" because there's was the first version I heard of this song. Duh-read the credits!
