the things you can learn on the internets
Searching for a fairly obscure reference made by another DUer, I found out some things about Scotty - James Doohan. He is 85 and afflicted with diabetes, Parkinsons, and Alzheimers. He is a veteran of D-Day, being part of the Canadian Army. A little bit more here:

1. Yeah, Mr. Doohan is a pretty fascinating guy!
I loved when Stern had him on in the early 90's...he was just such a regular guy. Fame never changed him, he was just like your favorite neighbor.

"Oh, Shatner? Complete A**h*le; we all hated him...." etc.

2. I really need to get his autobiography
I think I found Sulu's in the over-stock section, but since I came to Kansas I have not visited bookstores as often. The social science/political section at the local Waldenbooks was so bad that it turned me off to shopping there.
