So today is my first day as a real grassroots activist!
I'll spare you my lifestory over the past few months. Suffice it to say that I've decided to take a summer (maybe more?) job with Citizen's Campaign for the Environment. We're currently working to pass legislation to set up a Community Preservation Fund to buy up open green spaces such as farmlands, wetlands, and woodlands. Today, I'm going out, door to door, to raise awareness, organize letter writing, and do some fundraising.

Does anybody have any experience with CCE or similar organizations? I clicked with the people immediately. I think this is going to be a fun and rewarding experience.

Here's their website;

Good luck with CCE. Should be fun for you.

...and I'm not really concerned about the thread dropping. I'm going to experience a lot more rejection befor the day is over! LOL!

3. Cool, good luck with it!
I haven't been personally involved, but I have a good friend who managed a fundraising office for a while, and got a lot of satisfaction out of it!

6. Thanks, Lynz
It's just a temporary thing while I look for something in my field, but I'm really excited that this kind of combines my love of biological science with a political issue I'm passionate about.

9. You're welcome
Hey, sometimes the 'temp' stuff turns out to be better than the 'real' stuff. You never know.

What kind of job are you looking for?

10. I just got my Ph.D in microbiology
so I'm looking for a 1-2 year post doctoral position in the local area. I was initially willing to move anywhere in the country, but out of the blue I ended up in a relationship with a beautifuly young lady. Hence, the temporary job search.

7. Is that like one of those 'door-to-door begging for donations' things ?
:scared: I despise organizations like that and never could work for them.

8. I hear ya...
I had reservations about it, but I feel that this is an important issue, and even if I don't get donations, hopefully I'll at least have raised awareness or collected some letters to send to the lawmakers. Even in a worst case scenario, I'm collecting a paycheck while I search for a "real" job.
