RPG'ers: anybody here play Rolemaster?
So I find this really cute little site via craigslist, Critical Hit!, and I register, poke around, and see that it's all 3 and 3.5 D&D. Cool. So I ask the host/owner if he minds if I post stuff about Rolemaster. He says something along the lines of, "Is that an RPG? No, I'd like to keep this site all D&D." That's totally OK by me, of course, but he's never heard of Rolemaster? Am I really that old? (Um, fellas, the correct answer to that, by the way, is "No." :-) ) Is it an age thing? WTF?

1. I like the
critical hit and critical miss tables in Rolemaster. If knowing about Rolemaster makes a person old, then I guess I am as well

2. Rollmaster?

It was a fun alternative to D&D, particularly the entertaining Critical Hit Tables.
:yourock:

Don't forget SpaceMaster, and the simplified RM that served as the first LOTR RPG.

I.C.E. is still in business:

6. I used to have everything ever put out for Runequest
and then after moving it around for 15 years I finally got rid of the books. It was depressing to have such an excellent fantasy culture to play in, yet no one wanted to take the time and learn the culture. Empire of the Petal Throne had the exact same problem.

It's still around under the name of Herowars or something close to that.

11. You've got to be kidding me...
I'm not the only one who played Empire of the Petal Throne...
At least I think I did...the DM might have just modified it for AD&D.

7. Nope-
The only fantasy-RPG I've played is the "Das Schwarze Auge" ("The dark eye") system. It is by far the most popular RPG in Germany and was recently translated to English.

8. I've heard that Runequest is quite popular in Germany

They hold a big convention in a castle each year devoted to RQ and Chaosium's other games, iirc.

9. it is/was
I've lost contact with the RPG scene, so I'm not sure how it fares today.
I know that the magazine went bancrupty recently and that there is a actice community- other than that  .
Castles are pretty popular for RPG-conventions (and LAN-events...) BTW.
