Experiences with Mederma, scar tissue removal ointment?
It's kind of like an ointment with a mild fruit acid (actually, it's a botanical extract from onions), and you just kind of spread it on a scar a few times per day, every day, and over 3-6 months, it's supposed to moderate the appearance of the scar, I guess by peeling away the outer layer of the skin.

I'm curious as to what experiences people have had with this product. Thanks.

1. It doesn't work on acne scars that is for sure.
It says it even works to diminish "old" scars. It is supposed to soften the appearance. I didn't notice it "peeling" at all. I used it for almost a year and no results whatsoever!

I feel my skin burn slightly, which is, I guess, the extract irritating the outer layer of skin. Did you not get the same sensation from the treatment? Maybe you didn't use enough?

3. I used a whole tube of it on some stretch marks, and it didn't work.
After about 4 months or so, the stretch marks were still there.

6. helped reduce a bad keloid scar my daughter has on her
shoulder, and when she had another mole removed from her breast, used it from the get go and had very little visible scarring. I think a pitting type scar (like acne) would be harder to remove than a raised scar (like a keloid)

7. It came out right about the time I had open heart surgery.
I used it for about 3 months on my chest, and my scar is not very noticeable. I usually scar easily, but I don't know what it would have been like if I hadn't used it.
