CONCEPT - What is your program idea? Please be very specific and detailed in your description. Discuss proposed content. Include artist¡¦s names, music styles and format, as appropriate. Remember, the Program Director will use this information in reaching a decision.
My idea is to host a news talk radio commentary call in show. I want to cover whatever news, and issues are being discussed by the local, and the national AM talk radio programs, as well as introducing news, and issues not being so well covered. I would source news items. My editorial position will be one of countering the insults, misrepresentations, and outright lies of the movement that calls itself conservative. On this program I hope to conduct interviews with guests, either in the studio, or by phone. Politically, or socially active guests would be given priority over artists, and entertainers, though all persons of interest would be welcome. I want to be able to take on air phone calls from listeners, and to have their comments heard. My relationship with the audience would be one of wanting to win friends, and influence people through persuasion. I hope to be able to discuss news and issues politely, with a minimum of insult. If it sounds like people are going to swear, or say something ugly, I¡¦ll cut them off. I want to use intro, and bumper music, when appropriate. I¡¦m thinking of using music from whatever¡¦s on the current top 10. It¡¦s only going to be on for a few seconds anyway. I¡¦m going to lean toward using rap, as that seems to be the sort of music criticized by ¡§conservatives¡¨ the most. I think that¡¦s all. Thank you for your time.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MISSION - What Community needs will this program meet? As noted in the KZUM Mission Statement, the station¡¦s goal is to increase ethnic and cultural awareness through diverse music, news and public affairs programming.
In my opinion the agenda of the movement that calls itself conservative is one of attacking the very concept of public services, protections, benefits, and rights. Their agenda is one of getting rid of these things. While I¡¦ll admit that public services, protections, benefits, and rights can be taken too far, I believe that these things are currently in great need of defense. I¡¦ll cover, and talk about these issues as they come up in our Community, but these things don¡¦t happen in a vacuum. I¡¦ll need to talk about the larger ideologies, and about National, and International, as well as Community events. People in our Community have opinions on these larger ideologies, and issues. I very much hope to air these opinions of people in this Community concerning these ideologies, and events. I want to give over much of the show time to letting callers in our Community air their opinions.I hope have on the show, and to inteview many guests from the Community concerning their Community activities, and events. There¡¦s lots of political/social issues to be discussed on every level. I hope to connect everything discussed to how it effects people living right here in Lincoln Nebraska.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
EXPERIENCE - List any applicable broadcasting experience, training or licenses held.
During the past year I¡¦ve been calling into the local AM talk radio programs, and commenting on issues. I think I¡¦ve gotten some practice, and on air confidence from that. Otherwise I have no experience.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
