3. It depends on how embarrassing the shortcoming is really
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 03:23 PM by Zuni
if the person is late to work by like 5 minutes once a week, no reason to harp on him/her.

If he has some sort of major genetic disorder, or some other defect that he/she cannot control then it makes a little more sense and is probably funnier to those around you. Everyone loves a bully.

7. Nah... I'm all for ripping when it's deserved.
Sometimes it is... sometimes it's needed... either by the person who's got the shortcoming, in the case that they don't know it or haven't owned up to it - AND if it's affecting others in a negative way; or other times it's needed by the person harping... just so they can vent, ya know... everyone needs that now and then. Or it's useful as humor... jokes are great... everyone should be able to laugh at themselves.

6. Carl Jung said
"We are not so much a product of what we have been as of what we can conceive of being."

And shortcomings are all in the eye of the beholder anyway.

8. I have always chosen friends that can take and administer ribbings...
Otherwise, they just would not meld with my personality. My friends and I are downright EVIL to each other. And I, personally, wouldn't have it any other way.

Now, doing this to someone you do not have a close relationship with is not at all advisable.
