Question for all informed motorists....
In North Dakota, when someone objects to a revocation or suspension of his or her driver's license, he or she is granted an adminstrative hearing.

WHat I find curious, however, is that the hearing officer/administrative law judge is a North Dakota DOT official. They work for the DOT. They could be the prosecutor and judge at the same hearing. I've even heard that there are suspension "quotas" of sorts. This seems so bunk to me. Every other agency uses independent adminstrative law judges for their hearings.

What I want to know is whether this is the same for ALL states. Just curious.

1. Becoming more and more of an issue
traffic law is becoming more "administrative". Where you used to get a real judge in a courtroom, you now get a "hearing" in front of an "official" who is way more interested in raking in money than safety or justice.

The National Motorist's Assoc is a good resource; check them out at www.motorist.org. They are also lobbying heavily against the National ID, BTW.
