Today is my last day...............
at work after 30 yrs. I got hurt on the job in Jan. and was planning on retiring...well today is here. I am still being treated for my injuries but the game is pretty much over. I officialy hang up my "shield" later today. I'd like to think I made a difference.

8. Law Enforcement can be a thankless job sometimes.
Usually no one wants to see the cops coming--not until they are in distress in some way and then the cops can't get there fast enough for them.

11. Yes it can be .........I have had success & failure, but
I've always tried to treat people fairly & equal. It does take a lot out of a person over the years, but 2 words always made things better...thank you. That always went a long way in my book.

7. I bet you really did make a difference.
Even little stones cast upon the the water can make big ripples.

Take care of yourself and I hope your injuries will heal and you'll be feeling better soon.

10. My last day of work was pretty inglorious --
February, 2000. Told my female manager that she was nuts and if she paid me for the day (Monday), I would be out of her hair forever. It was a telephone surveying firm and they went through people like water.

I didn't realize at the time that I would never work again. I had worked about 45 years at the time, and had a terrific resume (and still do)! It was a time of "readjustment" in employment activity here in Portland, Oregon (read a climbing unemployment rate). After sending about 1,000 resumes, I just used up my unemployment insurance and started to volunteer.

Pretty much the same thing happened to my husband in 2001. A Washington state and California company went into bankruptcy in August, 2001 -- and boom -- software engineering "demand" just dried up.

Hey, we're healthy, traveling, enjoying our children and grandchildren. It's not too bad.

Feel better and enjoy the "golden years" if you can!

Warm regards,

Radio Lady
