Halloween is almost upon us...
Who is dressing up (either for work, party or just to give out candy?)
What/who are you going as?
What little sweeties are you giving out at YOUR door this year?

I am dressing up just to answer the door (as Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter - the evil Satanic book that should be burned *lol*) and we are handing out Tootsie Pops and Hershey bars. Spooky music, stuffed "bodies" here and there, black lites, etc. Should be fun!:bounce:

10. Hey Underpants! Drink Suggestions
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 03:56 PM by ProfessorGAC
Still going to Key West i presume.

Go to the Rooftop Cafe. They have the BEST PINA COLADAS EVER there! They claim to be the place that invented that drink, but who knows for sure.

Also, one of the bartenders who worked there in the early 90's (don't know if he's still there) won a national contest with a drink he developed called the Cocomotion. If they still make them, you MUST have one, at the least.

Also, last time i was there, the shrimp cocktail (really a meal) at the Blue Lagoon was huge! It's right on Roosevelt about half way between downtown and the east end of the island.

Unfortunately, my favorite restaurant there (Aunt Rosa's) is closed now. The husband and wife team that owned it split up and the restaurant shuttered. Too bad. They had really good italian style seafood dishes. Ask around for a place where the locals go. You won't be disappointed.

One more suggestion: Rent a motorscooter or a bike. It's WAY easier to get around downtown that way. Parking near where you're going is also a heck of a lot simpler that way.
The Professor

4. I love Halloween.
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 03:20 PM by GumboYaYa
We finished turning our house into a spider's lair last night except that we have not replaced our light bulbs with the eerrriiee green bulbs yet.

Next on the list is carving pumpkins. Last year I did Sponge Bob. I was going to do Howard Dean this year, but my wife doesn't think it goes with the spider's lair theme.

I will be dressed as Vinnie Barbarino from Welcome Back Kotter and will be trick or treating with the kids and/or passing out candy. We have a mixed bag of Nerds, Hersheys candy bars, Snickers, Twix, and Nestle Crunch for the kids this year.

I bet you get a great reaction from the kids as Professor Trelwaney. Have fun.

5. Taking tomorrow and Fri off to get ready
Da Bunny has done the bulk of the decorating but now the technical crew has to make the scene. Got a fog machine to hook up and lights and sound fx.

We specialise in a combination of macbre and cute. Zombie chipmonks, witch possums, tons of spiders, graves and tombstones, lurking figures, etc. We were working on vampire squirrels but don't have a finished product yet.

We recently found a great song called In our Haunted House. Dunno where it came from but its gonna get used a lot on Friday.

Not sure what costumes we are gonna go with on Friday. We went to some parties recently dressed as a pirate (me) and a gardener of death (Da Bunny in zombie makeup and carrying a basket of dead flowers and fingers and a hand). The pirate doesn't really work for the setup we have but I still have some props I can use from previous outings.

I'm dressing up this year. I'm a witch today for the Halloween thingy at work (don't even ask why we're having it today instead of Friday). Black mini skirt, black shirt, red and white striped tights, black Mary Jane's with big scary heels, and a shiny black with hat. :-)

Possibly got a party to go to Friday night. Will be a witch for that too only a little more fun and funky than the work version. Shorter black mini with an overskirt of strips of black and purple sheer material that hang to the floor, black hose with a seam up the back, same shoes as today, tight dark gray fake leather sleeveless top that laces up the front, and my witch hat.

Definintely hoping we get trick-or-treaters before the party. We've got a ton of candy since this is my best friend's first year in a real house. Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Reese's cups, Smarties, Tootsie Pops, you name it - we got it.

The kid decorated the house for Halloween. Lots of lights and critters and whatnot. There will be jack-o-lanterns - she's been carving on them all week. And there will be a 4 foot tall alien dressed as a witch with a broom and a pink witch hat with little skulls on it. :-)

I love Halloween.

15. Black dress, same one I've worn for almost ten years on Halloween.
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 04:15 PM by MissMarple
I wear it other times, but it's seasonal debut is Halloween. I also have a black velvet pointed hat, I don't usually wear it, I just place it by my broom at the front door.

For candy we have snack size Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers, Twixt bars, Hershey's chocolate, and some sour candy stuff.

We don't get many trick or treaters, I think they are afraid of the house.

It's more fun when the kids have parties.

16. Will be dressing up for work -- black suit, orange tee, and orange socks
that have rows of ghosts, witches, candy corn, etc., on them. And black Mary Janes.

For the kiddies that night, mini candy bars. We always have lots of cute little kids coming around.

17. I just gotta tell this story about my mom when she was new in the US
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 06:53 PM by Kamika
Anyway my mom and dad moved here when they were in their early 20s, and on the first halloween these kids came to us (i was just a baby so I wasnt really around)

Anyway mom opened the door and practicly got the basket of candy showed in her face.. now my mom and dad are form Korea they had no clue what this was.. so she thought they were just being friendly.

She reached in and took a chocolate bar and thanked them and closed the door :)

I can just imagine the WTF? look the kids and their parents must have had.

Mom told me they didnt come the next year.

As for decorations Ive done about 10 shrunk apple heads :) they are way cool

19. We can dress up at school
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 06:59 PM by Catshrink
as long as it's within dress code -- so no thong bikinis for me.

But, I am going as a Beanie Baby. I have my Ty tag made and poem written. I'll be "Die-Hard":

She loves Wrigley Field,
The best ball park of all,
and watching the Cubs
Play in ivy-covered walls.

I have a cute Cubs dress and Keds that are stitched like baseballs. I'm going to ask one of the art students to paint the logo on my face, too.

At least this year it won't be so far-fetched, eh?

edited for spelling.
