Metrosexual? I don't get it...
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 05:13 PM by Superfly
so, a metrosexual enjoys having facials(on edit: not the ejaculatory type, you perverts), massages, wearing nice clothes, living a clean lifestyle, etc.

What does that have to do with sex?

It just seems like a dumb word, and I'm getting tired of it already (like 'thinking outside the box')

1. South Park did a great parody of this last week...
made fun of the whole stupid fad, in true South Park fashion. I must be getting old, because I hadn't even heard of it until South Park.

overall health, I wear nice clothes and my life is a bit clean, I do not smoke or drink alcohol and try to eat as healthy as possible.

So what does it have to do with sex?? I first saw metrosexual here on a post about Dean. Is this the latest meme??

EDIT: I just went to the previous poster's link and saw the definition. What is wrong being a straight man showing his feminine side? I would consider Bill Clinton a straight man showing his feminine side. All that means is that they are empathetic to us women.

5. It's just men
who don't belch, scratch in public, and think a 6 pack is all there is to life. No big deal.

8. Nothing whatever
"So Ian Thorpe told Australia in a radio interview last November. With interests outside the domain of the traditional, Aussie, macho male, Thorpe talked about his sexuality for the first time. He was flattered that the gay community identified with him, he said, but he was, in fact, heterosexual. "You know, I'm a little bit different to what most people would consider being an Australian male," Thorpe told ABC Radio.

But he's not that different, at all. Men of all sexualities are taking a greater interest in their appearance. They go to hairdressers rather than barbers; avoid using soap because it's too harsh on their skin; visit the gym instead of playing sport and even have difficulty deciding what to wear."

10. If not scratching in pubic,
belching, and beer is all it takes to be metrosexual, it might be doable. As long as I don't have to be "manscaped". Shaving arms, legs, armpits, chest hair....not me. As the song says....I'm a mannnnnn....lol

11. Well lots of men shave it off
Gets hot in summer with 'hair undershirts' as I'm sure you know.

Odor is stronger with underarm hair.

Products for men to remove it have been on the market for ages.

Women have hair all over too...so they just remove it.

It's just hair you know, not your identity.

15. Remember, manscaping
makes your midsection look thinner and ... other things ... look bigger.

I don't see what the big deal is about trimming hair that's freakishly long. It looks better neatly groomed. My husband gets his back waxed, and he's a huge, beefy, ex-Marine Vietnam vet and a carpenter. It looks nicer, it feels nicer, and it doesn't clog the shower drain.

18. sorry....
... the beernuts disqualify you from being a metrosexual.

Wait the one year reapplication period and try again :)

I have to admit, these silly words that get made up and take on a life of their own get pretty tedious. And invariably, the 'meaning' of the 'word' gets lost in the multiple translations.

Oh well, maybe if the media had something important to talk about...

As much as I like QE, there's no way that I'm going to roll down the top of my pants in lieu of a belt. I mean....C'mon!

I'd like to thank them for introducing me to the french press, though. (It's for coffee, you pervs!)

20. Play on words - uses stereotype of homosexuals
who supposedly are fashion-conscious, effeminate, etc., to describe mostly urban men who use hair "products," dress in the latest fashions, keep themselves toned and scrubbed, interested in "culture" not just sports and grab-ass. Women supposedly are attracted to the "metrosexuals" because they combine "manliness" with all the things in homosexual men that women like. Southpark episode was hilarious. My info comes from my 20-something daughter, who has to try to keep me somewhat informed.
