About 50% of the time that's the case at more than one Radio Shack store in Boston. When I take it back, I imagine them putting it back on the shelf, in the hope that at some point some customer will not notice or won't return it in time....

I think it's their MO to put broken returned stuff straight back out on the shelves. I guess maybe sometimes people can't be bothered to take it back for whatever reason and Radio Shack just pockets the profits anyway. I really hate them as a franchise, their old habit of asking for your name and address for every little battery purchase really got up my nose. At least they don't do that any more. :grr:

3. I avoid Radio Crap like the plague. Haven't been to one in years. |
|
Their sales people are my biggest problem. They don't hire people for what they know. They hire the biggest and best bullshit artists, whoever can make a sale. That's the reason a lot of the merchandise on the shelf is returned items. They don't care if the item is what the customer needs or if they can use it or not as long as they make a sale.

4. There's something hopelessly sad about Radio Shack... |
|
I can't quite put my finger on it. I tyhink part of it is their toy department, which is stocked with generic competitors to whatever the hot electronic toy of the moment is. I just imagine these well-meaning but technologically ignorant grandparents buying things like the "Tandy EksBox" thinking it's an "X-Box", and the salesperson assuring them that it's exactly what little Johnny wants.

6. In 1994, I bought a stereo VCR... |
|
It OUTLASTED not one but TWO VCRs I'd bought afterwards for dubbing.
Which is odd, actually...
