five pair of pants, three shirts, 24.00
At the local thrift store, the shirts were brand new as well as three pair of the pants. I love thrift stores, if it were'nt for them I'd have to go naked.

1. I agree. If you have the patience to look through quite a bit of stuff,
you can find some great deals! I find consignment shops are great places to look too! Especially if they are located in some upper class neighborhoods where the people buy new clothes just to stay dressed in the new color of the month/season, and the things they turn over to the consignment shop were only worn a very few times!

2. Look at it this way:
When you go to a thrift store you are "hunting" for a great deal. When you find a great deal you "bag it". Sometimes you bag something, sometimes you don't.:toast:

3. Agreed!
ours puts the money into the local homeless shelter too! It is a win win situation for sure, to say nothing of the fun of it.
Who can afford clothing prices these days - yikes!

5. Thrift stores are great!
At my local thrift store I can get five pairs of jeans, in good shape, for the price of one new pair at any major retail outlet.

My local thrift store also arranges the shirts by color, so if you want a blue shirt, just go to the blue section and start digging until you find one you like.

8. I love 'em too!
People often tell me: "You should go to X store -- they have pants on sale for $20!" or whatever ... I always think, "Why would I do that when I can go to Value Village (my favorite chain) and get 'em for $4?"

10. I always thrift
We have a couple shops next to each other and the kids call it "Moms Mall"

The kids are starting to appreciate thrifting. I can tell them we have x dollars to spend, do you want one pair of jeans..or 2 outfits from Mom's mall??

Plus you aren't really tied to your clothes if they are a bargain to begin with. It make them easier to part with and replace when needed.
