It's a powder actuated fastener. Drives nail-like fasteners through a 2x4 into concrete with one pull of the trigger. POW! It's in there, baby!

Even at 5-cents a pop, it's much cheaper than drilling a pilot hole and inserting a plastic or lead anchor then driving a lag-bolt or lag-screw into it. And much faster too.

I love cool tools! This one is REALLY going to be useful.

Box of 2" fasteners (nails) is $10, and a box of 100 .22 caliber power-shot-thingies was about $7.

I tell you what... it's loud! You definitely need ear protection and eye protection. I'm just amazed at how easily it pops through both the wood and into the concrete.

And it holds firm once it's there. If you want to remove the fastener, you can't. (Not without ruining the concrete anyway. It's more of a demolition job to remove it once it's fastened... so you better make certain it's properly placed the FIRST TIME. No re-do's.)
