9. How far back?
Australopithecus is one of the earliest known human ancestors after the divergence of human ancestors from ape ancestors.

16. We are homo sapiens
and we are cro-magnon (even though some of us, me for instance, look pretty Neanderthal.)

It is controversial whether Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon ("anatomically modern," us) are the same species or, if not, whether Neanderthal was a link.

21. that would be a SUBspecies
and is the view of those who think of Neanderthal as a distinct subspecies of the same species, Homo sapiens Neanderthalensis.

Understand, this is what I, not a biologist, remember as best I can of what biologists think. I AM married to a biologist, but I ain't one myself.

Isn't there anyone with specialized knowlege of human evolution and paleontology on this board? SOS!

18. Do you think monkeys ever get pissed
that we got the better evolution track than they did? Sure, they get to swing in trees and eat bananas all day, but do you think they get miffed that we control the world and they don't? I mean, one little wrong turn and it's off to oblivion for them.

Jus wunderin...
