I can't believe these dumbasses and their damn mini-bikes

Ok, I've complained before to management but I thought yesterday I'd be the good person and let them enjoy their bikes, I had errands to run that was taking me out of my home for about 3 hours.

But tonight I put down my foot and I can't believe the dumbass comment I got from the owner

"I didn't realize these things were that loud"

Well fuck me with a piping hot poker stick - doesn't this woman (who allows the kids to rid without helmets) realize just how fucking loud these bikes are. And it's almost 9pm on a Sunday night. I don't mind if a neighbor has some music playing loud or making some normal noise, but I don't have to fucking deal with these minibikes blaring at top volume for hour on end. I finally asked the woman, who btw, owns a truck, why doesn't she take these things over to the park that is less than 2 minutes away where they can ride them all they want without bugging the bejesus out of their neighbors.

I tried to be nice yesterday, but tonight - no more. If the apartment managers won't do something about these bikes (btw, many times I heard cars honking to get these riders out of the way), then I know the numbers not only to the owners of the complex but also the housing authority in the county. I know the city of Wilmington along with several other communities have banned these bikes on public property but we're just out of the city limits.

I'm about ready to take this up with the owners of the apartment complex. These people are irresponsible with these bikes and I hardly think they have the insurance to cover any kind of damage whether to other people's property or the kids riding them.

3. They're riding in the parking lot of an apartment complex

I even told the manager that management could be held libel if anything happened to those kids since they aren't doing anything about this risk. At this point I'm about ready to go to the owners of the place on this one. I hate being the bad person but this is a nuisance to everyone who lives in the complex. The folks who own the bikes have a truck - they should be taking them someplace safe where the kids can ride (Or better yet sell the bikes and fix up that junker truck that is about ready to fall to pieces)

4. Just last week

a kid was killed riding one of those pocket bikes here in KC. They are very dangerous. And do you realize how inexpensive they are? I have seen several in the $200 range.

5. As an apartment manager - I let new tenants know up front

and - include in their lease agreements that they can't use the common areas for play or recreation purposes. It cuts down on the noise complaints, loitering, littering, damage to property, etc..

Last summer, there was this kid who would stand around and bounce his basketball in the courtyard and against the walls in front of tenant's doors/windows for HOURS. The noise would echo into everyone's apartment and it had a noise effect of someone hammering on the walls non-stop. I reminded the kid's mother about the clause in her lease about no play on the common areas and her response was -"well where do you expect him to play?". I told her that was a parental decision she had to make and reminded her about the park down the street. She didn't take the warning seriously and continued to send her kid out to play. I had to end up evicting this stupid woman because of the number of complaints I was getting from other tenants - all because of a kid and his bouncing ball.

If I were you, I would call the apartment manager to the point to where your calls become as annoying to the Manager as the mini-bikes are to you.

but I would add, complain in writing. If nothing is done after the first written complaint, CC the owners and send both copies certified mail.

6. Besides annoying...they're not street legal.

So their owners can't get motor vehicle insurance for 'em.

Homeowners Insurance won't cover motorized equipment unless it's stuff like riding lawn mowers and such.

Most owners don't know this, and haven't looked into getting insurance specifically for the 'pocket rockets'. So...If the ding-dongs ride 'em anywhere but on their own property and something Does Happen? Liability city.
