Poll question: Arugula: Yea or Nay?

Can't stand it. Grew it in a mesclun mix once and couldn't even tolerate the smell. How's about you?

1. Love it. Grow it.

The taste grew on me. It is very distinct. In my
younger years I woulda spat it out, but my taste varies
more now. Gardening-wise, it seems to be bug-resistant
plus it bolts much later and slower than other lettuce.

I have thought about it in the past. I love the taste.

7. Very easy. Then again

it depends where you live. I'm here in L.A.
But still I imagine it would be worth a try,
for a packet of seeds. We grow
it all year long. Like I say, bugs dont like it (they
got no taste) and it does not bolt (go to flower,
which bitters up the leaves) as soon or fast as other
lettuce or other greens. My fave is in avocado sandwiches.

3. Voted for the "enzyme/cilantro thing" option

It tastes fresh and clean to me...never noticed that it had any "taste".

I'm also one of those people who use Cilantro as a Mediterranian spice; not a 'hot' spice.

11. Tastes anything but fresh and clean to me

The only word that comes to mind is "stinky" for the flavor I discern. Likewise, cilantro has an ammonia like quality to me. Neither has what I would call a "peppery" note like herbs such as savory or Mexican oregano have. It's definitely gotta be that enzyme thing.

5. If you got a garden, grow it.

Easy to grow, lasts long time. At least here in
sunny Southern Cal. We grow it year round. Yum!

Rocket/arugula is fine, but I had a similar experience with it and cilantro. No, not an enzyme thing, I just got sick of it. It was fine every now and again, but I went through a run of recipes that always used it... after a week of nothin' but, it switched over to the blech pile. Same thing happened with cilantro - so good at first, so bad at the last.
