1. He sucks
Most new country does. It's a sorry joke to group him in the same genre as Waylon Jennings or Merle Haggard.

2. First of all, get rid of Country "Music"!!!!
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 09:58 PM by PROGRESSIVE1
While not all of them are bad, most of them are!!! The Country Music Community is Very Conservative, Right Wing, Nationalistic, Xenophobic, and in Toby's case, bigoted!!!

Since 9/11, Country Radio has become GOP Hate Radio, especially in the South where all of those Nazi style "book burings" of Dixie Chick parafanalia took place!

When they talk about their family enviroment, they are full of SHIT!!! Remember Vince Gill and Amy Grant had an affair! That's right, an AFFAIR!!!!! Not so family value-like, now is it!!!

Also, their comments towards the Chicks did not sound very family oriented!!!

Edit: The "Grand Ole Opry" is the home of the propaganda ministry!

That piece on 60 minutes, well as much as I saw of it anyway, was disgusting, as is Toby Keith.

7. That's what I was thinking...
Those songs that he recorded after 9/11 in my mind were nothing more than a way to make a profit off of tragedy. Think about it...9/11 happens and then here comes some songs from him about putting boots up the ass and other such things...it's like...to me...he slung a flag over his shoulder, made a few songs...put them on an album and now he's making gazillions of dollars off of them...

And what he did to Natalie Mains(sp?)...was uncalled for...having a picture of her and Saddam together at his shows...totally assanine if you ask me...

A true conservative showing his true colors...make some songs about the U.S. when it's convienient...would he make the same songs if 9/11 didn't happen...probably not...

Sorry to all of you country music fans that might like him...but I detest him...

9. I read an EW article about him ....
and I wasn't impressed; only positive was that he didn't seem to be pro-Iraq war ... he didn't speak out against it, but you got the impression he didn't really support it

10. If he doesn't support the Iraq war he should have the guts to say so.
But he won't because he'd upset his fan base. His brand of country music is pop music with steel guitars, inane lyrics, and fiddles.Nothing unique there;that's all Nashville puts out these days.

Has this pro-war jerk-off ever served his beloved country? Quote from "Country Weekly"(my brother-in-law buys it)"Bitter anti-war statements...a stormy feud with a fellow superstar...posing nude for a magazine cover. And now, another bombshell, The irrepressible DIXIE CHICKS can't seem to stop causing trouble. Will country fans finally decide enough is enough? All you gotta do is wave the flag for these crackers and they'll follow you anywhere! Right "W"? I'm stuck in the '60's, country sucks!

23. The letter..
This is old, but Natalie's letter is great...

http://dixiechicks.launch.yahoo.com/news.asp?id=57

"Message 2:
Country radio called and wants to know if it's true that you're leaving country music? This one must be a prank call. I mean, how can you leave a party now when the hosts had shown you to the door six months ago."

"Message 4:
G. Gordon Liddy, Rush Limbaugh, and Don Imus all called again to ask about the plane crash. Listen guys this is really getting old. I'm sorry, but no we did not die in a plane crash. But look on the bright side…we fly all the time."

This is how you alienate voters. I love country music. The Dixie Chicks are the first thing in years to come out of Nashville thats actually country. And....everyone knows it.

http://www.madison.com/captimes/features/stories/59929.php

If I were a person in "Power" right now, I would be talking to the Chicks about their next CD. Toby is all ready working for Bush...Do you want to hear the theme music to * 's acceptance speech. As Red White & Blue.

TALK TO SPRINGSTEEN, TALK TO MELLENCAMP, TALK TO WILLIE, TALK TO THE CHICKS.

Some one has to be able to out-write, and out sing Toby.

If I hear him sing another Ford commercial "Look Ageeeen" (again),
I'll puke.

22. He's a dolt...
When I see that Ford commercial I want to pull an Elvis and blow the TV away. The "tough guy" image kills me, considering the only thing I have ever heard him threaten was the Chix (which to me is the best thing to come along in Country music in a long while). The guy can't sing, his number one songs arent written by him, and he is just another "artist" being used by his record company and thinking it is his "talents" that got him where he is.

Notice he had to fabricate shit with which to diss the Dixie Chicks (photoshopped images of Natalie with Saddam).

There's your core family values.

25. I'm not a fan of his music
but I do have to say, I think better of him after reading his interview in Entertainment Weekly - he felt genuinely bad about having put up the pictures of Natalie Maines with Saddam Hussein and acknowledged that that was a mean thing to do. He stopped. That shows more class than a lot of these bozos have.

At least he realized that stirring up his fans with that kind of jingoistic bullshit was unkind and uncalled for.
