i have a confession
yesterday my husband and i went to the movies. When the movie was over we walked to the car and on the way i walked by this car that had a big "I SUPPORT THE WAR" sticker on the window. I was so pissed because i didn't have any enlistment forms on me so i took the gum out of my mouth and put it under the door handle of the car door. So when this idiot came out to open its car door he would get a handful of sticky gum. Our temp was in the high 90's yesterday so I'm sure it wasn't pretty. I walked to my car and got in and then confessed to my husband what i had done. The thing is...i didn't feel bad. IS that wrong?

5. It was wrong.
Maybe those people have a son or daughter or other loved one in Iraq and feel a deep seeded need to be supportive of the war for their own sense of self preservation.

Those two facts do not change my opinion of this war of Bush.

6. Have you ever heard of Karma?
Jeez. This kinda thing makes me so angry. Around the election, I was so worried that my, well kinda nice, car would be keyed or defaced because of my Kerry stuff. I only thought extremely deluded freeper types would participate in this type of vandalism. It's childish and pointless and really has no benefit whatsoever. I'm sure that person never even made the connection and if they did you really opened up their minds I'm sure. :sarcasm: So you betcha it was wrong.

8. i would never key anyones car
the gum will not ruin the car just give the driver sticky fingers. If i step in gum it doesn't ruin my shoe its just an annoyance.

20. Nice relativism
The keying wouldn't be as bad as ramming my car. The damage would be minimal and I'd still be able to drive it so it wouldn't be a big deal right?

You know you were wrong or else why the confession? To gloat? to brag? It was cowardly and childish and non-productive. It's also really nasty to make a stranger touch your spit and wonder exactly what sort of nasty germs they are touching. I don't know if you have any nasty germs or not but I would feel so grossed out if that happened to me. And if I posted that happened to me because of my anti-war stuff everyone here applauding you now would be condeming the freakin freeper who did it. Just saying.

9. Yes.
As much as I've been infuriated when seeing similar things & wanted to lash out, I haven't. Because, IMO, that would contradict everything I've tried to stand for.

15. Yeah, that's a hard and fast rule, unless someone wants to
spray paint the name of my band on a bridge abutment or something. Then vandalism's okay.

21. Yes it was wrong but
when you think of all the many terrible things done in the world yesterday it is probably way down at the bottom of the list and the fact you confessed it here at DU, well, I think this might help get you off the hook a little but I am not sure

22. Not good.
I confess that I giggled a little at the thought of a freeper grabbing a handful of melted gum. Then, I wondered whether the freeper would notice. :)

The bumper sticker wars are a passive-aggressive means of attacking one another. I don't appreciate religious people spamming my car. I don't like freepers slapping their yellow ribbons on my bumper. If I found gum under my handle, I'd be royally pissed. I'd probably write about it here.

But don't beat yourself up over it. It is funny, in theory. In practice, however, it's unpleasant and silly.

25. thank you for the reply
and not totally flaming me. I admit there have been times where i wanted to pull off someones pro shrub bumper sticker but i remember how i felt when my Kerry/Edwards ones were defaced and how i tell my son that democrats would never stoop to that level. I honestly didn't think the gum thing was a fraction as bad. But thinking back on it, the person driving that car with the pro-war bumper sticker wouldn't even begin to think that was why so yeah, it was probably pointless.

I carry a black Sharpie in my car and write "I Like Killin'" on those bumper stickers so it's no biggie.

...and remedied with a little soap. The problem is that most freepers have a hard time with soap.:D
