How can a guy like me be a Liberal?
I mean I drive an old beat up pick up truck
I am a blue collar guy
I am not a college graduate
I listen to good old Lynyrd Skynyrd and others of that ilk
I drink beer on Saturday nights (as well as other nights)
I like NFL football and other sports, like the rednecks do.
I like to go fishing.

How the hell can a beer swillin', under educated, redneck music listenin', sports lovin' guy like me be a liberal? It's easy. I know how to read and comprehend. The purpose of this post is to point out that there is no such thing as a "typical" Liberal, just as there is no such thing as a "typical" conservative. Some on both sides of the spectrum seem to forget that. It just sort of bothers me occasionally.

3. Thanks for pointing out that we should never
ever stereotype someone based on what they seem to be like. I found this out when I was blockwalking for Kerry in Arkansas. A lot of good ole boy liberals in that neck of the woods. I love those redneck liberals! They are my favorite people!

5. Lessee here...
I got 2 old beat up trucks, several guns, an ancient Case farm tractor & a chainsaw. I hunt, fish, live in the country & wear bib overalls a lot, at least on weekends. I don't drink anymore, but 2 or 3 breweries went out of business in Wisconsin after I quit, probably not entirely coincidentally.

Nah. What's your issue? You sound like a typical Democrat to me.

6. Southern Rockers supported Jimmy Carter
Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and other southern rock bands gave concerts for Jimmy Carter when he ran for President. :)

7. Good on ya Bluzmann

I'm with ya right down the line, ceptin, I got me a college sheepskin. And I'm a VETERAN, a larged penised proud liberal veteran who enjoys pissing off conservatives at every opportunity; a relatively easy task, all you do is tell the truth. I think homosexuals should get married; where in the Constitution does it state they can't? I think the greatest example of separation of church and state is to take the tax exempt status away from churches, think about it. I think dobson and falwell etcetera are ignorant constitution hating rodents who have no idea how good they have it in this country and I consider such conservative domestic enemies of the constitution. Go on, try to define us.

Did I mention I'm a NASCAR fan and I get a Christmas Card from Budweiser every year?

8. We are somewhat similar, Bluzmann
Not only am I a blue collar guy, but I'm a truck driver and you know how we get bombarded with the right wing point of view on the radio. Several of my trucking bretheren and sisteren have fallen prey to the right wing hacks, but many of us are good liberals.

10. Yeah I deal with a lot of truckers on my job
Most of them are not long haul drivers, but do run between here (Davenport, IA) and Chicago daily. A few of them are religious listeners to AAR and Democracy radio. They have seen the light!
