One of our managers is a black man.

When he was a drill sergeant at Fort Sill, the soldier who lived in the set of quarters next to his knocked on the door the first night they were there. "Hi, I'm Sergeant so-and-so, this is my wife, these are our children. We have a covered dish for you. Welcome to the neighborhood. Oh, and you don't want to go around our dog. He hates black people."

Turns out the dog was a rescue; the person who had it first was a black man who beat it.
