They can run this Napster ad all they want....
...and "all they want" appears to be "all the freakin' time".....

And no one is going to care. Napster was cool when it was an underground free file-sharing system. It is not even slightly cool as a new name for a pay-fer-view music site.

I feel horribly sorry for whoever shelled out for that name and kitty logo. Actually, maybe not -- they're taking the bath they deserve.

3. Same as the iTunes store
Pay for downloads.
Seeing the tremendous success of iTunes makes me wonder if Napster, or any other site where you have to pay, will survive.

4. iTunes has a lot of functionality
All the "new" Napster has is a little kitty logo....

6. Funny, I didn't even know that the logo was a kitty!
For years I've been wondering what that damn thing was- you say it's a cat? Rather odd choice....

That''s always been Napster's logo
They may have refined it, but that's always been there/

2. why would anybody pay for napster when we have Kazaa Lite?
"hmmm, I think I'll use napster, because I'd rather pay for something I can get for free"

7. I would rather pay
Honestly, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of taking people's work without paying for it. I downloaded iTunes and I'm perfectly happy paying a fee per song.

It's not totally an ethical thing - I can really see both sides of the argument - but, I don't know...maybe it's 'cause I have a lot of artsy friends. I can appreciate TRUE artists and the fact that they're just trying to make a living off their talents, like anyone else.

5. We saw that ad what seemed like hundreds of times
during a ridiculously edited "The Breakfast Club", and I said the same thing to my husband. Sure they are cute ads, but why on earth would anyone go there and pay for it? I'd just buy the cd....used.

8. Well....it looks like for $10 a month....
you can download all the songs you want that are on their labels. I'd have to wonder how extensive their collection is, but if it's huge, I could see creating a want list of a thousand songs, joining for a month, and downloading them all, then cancelling. I wonder what the quality is like....I heard something about downgraded quality, but if it's "up to snuff", I'd blow $10 for 50 CDs worth of music...

9. Holy sheet!
I just read their terms!!! They don't seem to want to make this a big deal, but once you give up the subscription service, you LOSE ALL TUNES!!! They apparently have a monthly expiration date that must be reset at the website! F**K THAT!!!

10. Haven't they tried that before?
Musicnet? Pressplay?

Hmmmmm... where are they now?

Amazing how record labels are still living in the past. Maybe THAT'S their problem.
