Web hosting/domain name registration?
Need advice on where to find a domain registry and hosting service that's relatively cheap and helps support progressive causes while providing decent service.

Just want to be careful here. There's at least one Web service out there (Micetrap) that appears to cater to white racialist types.

1. Don't know about the progressive causes part, but...
http://www.digitalspace.net definitely meets the "cheap" requirement. I've been on them for years and have no complaints.

As for hosting, check out:

http://www.sonataweb.net (where I'm going to soon when I switch from http://www.thrillhost.com which is managed by http://www.midphase.com)

Another one is http://www.httpme.com

3. godaddy.com for domain registration
About the cheapest around. Don't know about hosting though.

BTW, if you are going to host a political site you might want to make your registration anonymous. For a few bucks it will hide your real name from those who look it up, since it is a public record.

4. Here's why I prefer Network Solutions for domain name registration...
...they have an optional "Private Registration" service that protects your personal data. Go HERE if you want to know more:

http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/websitehosting/index.jhtml

I use DreamHost for hosting. They have pretty solid (and generous) hosting packages, things like adding a WordPress blog to your site with a couple of clicks. Go HERE for more on them:

http://www.dreamhost.com/

I use both services, and get no kickbacks whatsoever for recommending them. I've used both since 1999 and am a satisfied customer.
